Veteran reliever Shelby Miller has been activated from the injured list and is ready to contribute to the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers just days after being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Miller, who had been sidelined with a right forearm strain, joins a red-hot Brewers team coming off a 6-0 road trip and currently holding the best record in MLB.

The Boston Red Sox have signed 21-year-old outfielder Roman Anthony to an eight-year, $130 million contract extension, with escalators that could raise the total to $230 million. The deal includes a $5m signing bonus and a $30m club option for 2034. Anthony, a former No. 1 overall prospect, has impressed in his rookie season, hitting .283 with a .400 on-base percentage in 46 games since debuting in June.

The Boston Red Sox acquired right-hander Dustin May from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, addressing their need for pitching depth. May, 27, is a pending free agent who prefers starting and has posted a 4.85 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 104 innings across 19 games this season. Once a key contributor to the Dodgers' 2020 title run, May has dealt with multiple injuries in recent years.

The Detroit Tigers have acquired 34-year-old right-handed reliever Rafael Montero from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for minor league infielder Jim Jarvis. Montero, in his 11th MLB season, has pitched for six teams and logged 360 regular-season appearances. This year, he has a 5.40 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 39 relief outings between Houston and Atlanta, including a strong June-July stretch with the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves have traded for veteran pitcher Erick Fedde from the St. Louis Cardinals, sending a player to be named later or cash in return. The Cardinals will cover most of Fedde's $7.5 million salary for 2025. This move comes as the Braves, facing multiple injuries to their starting rotation, look for reinforcements.

The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a deal with free agent reliever David Robertson, pending a physical. The 40-year-old veteran will earn over $5 million for the remainder of the season on a prorated $16 million deal. Robertson, a 16-year MLB veteran with a career 2.91 ERA and 177 saves, last pitched for the Texas Rangers in 2023, where he posted a 3.00 ERA over 68 appearances.

The Texas Rangers have traded right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for reliever Jose Ruiz and cash considerations. Ruiz, 30, will report to Triple-A Round Rock after splitting the season between the Phillies, Braves, and their Triple-A affiliates. He has a 1-0 record with an 8.82 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 18 MLB appearances this season. Dunning, also 30, had a 3.38 ERA in five appearances for Texas this year.

In a blockbuster move, the San Francisco Giants acquired three-time All-Star Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, sending a package of prospects including left-hander Kyle Harrison, right-hander Jordan Hicks, and outfield prospect James Tibbs III in return. The trade, which sends Devers to a team in need of offensive power, also includes the Giants covering the remaining $250 million on Devers' contract through 2033.

The New York Mets strengthened their bullpen by acquiring left-handed pitcher Jose Castillo from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations. Castillo, a Venezuelan pitcher who debuted in 2018 with the San Diego Padres, showed promise early in his career. However, injuries limited his major league appearances from 2019 to 2023. After signing a minor league deal with Arizona in late 2023 and briefly playing for their Triple-A team and major league squad in 2024, Castillo was designated for assignment in May.

The Chicago Cubs have acquired left-handed reliever Tom Cosgrove from the San Diego Padres in exchange for cash considerations and have optioned him to Triple-A Iowa. Cosgrove, 28, has a 3.95 ERA over 72 MLB appearances since debuting in 2023 but has struggled recently, posting a 7.36 ERA in Triple-A this season.

The Atlanta Braves strengthened their bullpen by acquiring right-hander Rafael Montero from the Houston Astros on Tuesday. Along with Montero, the Braves received $7.7 million to cover over 70% of his remaining salary. In exchange, the Astros will receive a player to be named later.

Catcher Cal Raleigh and the Seattle Mariners have agreed to a six-year, $105 million contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2030 season, with a player option for 2031. Known for his elite defense and clutch hitting, Raleigh won both the American League Gold Glove and Platinum Glove.
