Cannavaro appointed head coach of Dinamo Zagreb

Former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro has been named the new head coach of Dinamo Zagreb. The 2006 World Cup winner and Ballon d'Or recipient takes over following a brief stint with Udinese.
Cannavaro, previously a caretaker manager for China's national team and Al Nassr, replaces Nenad Bjelica, who was dismissed due to poor results. Cannavaro will start after the New Year, with his first match against Arsenal in the Champions League group stage on January 22nd.

The Croatian First League (1. HNL) contains ten teams, with each club playing every other club four times for a total of 36 rounds. After completing a season, the first-placed club must go through qualifying rounds to enter the UEFA Champions League. The last-placed team will be relegated to the Croatian Second Football League.
