transfers news

Rayo 26.1.12
Diego Costa agrees Rayo switch

Diego Costa has joined Rayo Vallecano on loan from Spanish league Atletico Madrid until the end of the season. The Brazilian forward will stay at Rayo until the end of the season but the club do not have an option to purchase him on a permanent deal. Costa, 23, injured ligaments in his right leg last year and has yet to play a game this campaign, although he has already trained with his new club. He scored eight goals last season, his first with Atletico. Meanwhile, on-loan Arsenal defender Pedro Botelho has left Rayo Vallecano and agreed to join their league rivals Levante until the end of the season.

Sevilla 24.1.12
Baba Diawara signs for Sevilla

Senegalese striker Baba Diawara has completed his move to Sevilla from Maritimo. The 24-year-old passed his medical before penning a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Spanish side. Sevilla have struggled for goals this season and they will be hoping Baba can boost their hopes of a top six finish. Baba has impressed with Maritimo this campaign and scored 10 goals in the Portuguese league.

Betis 22.1.12
Betis adds Paulao on loan

Betis added to its defensive options by taking St Etienne defender Paulao on loan until the end of the season. The Brazilian moved to France last summer from Braga but has been unable to hold down a regular place in the lineup under manager Christophe Galtier, with the move giving the 29-year-old the opportunity at more regular playing time. Paulo's loan move runs through the end of the season, but Betis will have the option of making the move permanent.

Malaga 18.1.12
Kameni seals Malaga switch

Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has reached an agreement to join Malaga on a two-and-half year contract. The Cameroon international has played more than 200 league games since joining Espanyol from French club Le Havre in 2004. However, Kameni, 27, has not played this campaign after a falling out with team boss Mauricio Pochettino. Kameni will now rival Willy Caballero for the goalkeeper's spot at Malaga.

Malaga 14.1.12
Malaga sign Carlos Kameni

Espanyol have announced on their website that goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has agreed to join Malaga on a free transfer. Although there is no fee involved in the transfer, news agency EFE claims that Espanyol will still receive some money at the end of the season based on Kameni's performances and Malaga's league finish. The Cameroon international, joined Espanyol from Le Havre in 2004 and was an ever-present figure at the Liga club, making 222 competitive appearances for the Catalans. However, the 27-year-old fell out of favour at the end of the last season after criticising what he perceived to be Espanyol's 'lack of ambition' and did not make a single appearance for Mauricio Pochettino's side this term.

Atletico M 6.1.12
Reyes returns to Sevilla

Jose Antonio Reyes has quit Atletico Madrid and completed a move back to Sevilla, the club in his native city where he began his professional career in 1999. It is reported that Sevilla have paid €3.5m for the 28-year-old winger, with an additional million euros due depending on the club's results. Reyes has signed a contract until June 2015. He left Sevilla in 2004 and has since played for Arsenal, Real Madrid, Benfica and Atletico Madrid.

Atletico M 1.9.11
Diego to Spain, Hleb leaves

Atletico Madrid have completed the loan signing of Brazilian midfielder Diego from Wolfsburg, with Barcelona's Alexander Hleb replacing him at the Greman club. Diego, 26, has a contract with Wolfsburg through the summer of 2014, but could make a permanent switch to Atletico at the end of the season. Diego, who made his name during a three-year spell with Werder Bremen, joined Wolfsburg from Juventus last summer but ran into trouble with the club's hierarchy for disciplinary reasons. Hleb, 30, has been sent out on loan the last two seasons, at Stuttgart and Birmingham, having played 36 competitive games for Barcelona during the 2008/09 campaign after joining the Catalan club from Arsenal.

Villarreal 1.9.11
Jonathan de Guzman moves to Villarreal

Villarreal have signed midfielder Jonathan De Guzman from Mallorca to a five-year contract. The Canadian-born Dutch player joined the Spanish club before the close of Wednesday's transfer deadline in a deal reported to be worth €8m. De Guzman scored five goals in 33 appearances for Mallorca last season and was a regular in coach Michael Laudrup's starting lineup. Villarreal have also agreed a deal to sign Ikechukwu Uche from Real Zaragoza, with the Nigeria forward immediately being sent out on loan to La Liga newcomers Granada.

Valencia 31.8.11
Valencia sign pair of defenders

Valencia have signed a pair of Spanish defenders, Victor Ruiz from Napoli and Antonio Barragan from Valladolid. The 22-year-old Ruiz, who recently helped Spain to the Under-21 European Championship title, agreed to a five-year deal for a reported fee of €7.5m. The 24-year-old right-sided defender Barragan, who previously played at Liverpool and Deportivo La Coruna, has agrred a four-year contract in a deal believed to be worth around €1.5m.

Atletico M 22.8.11
Atletico complete €40m Falcao deal

Atletico Madrid bought Colombia striker Radamel Falcao from Porto in a Portuguese and club record transfer deal of €40m. Atletico have invested the money received from Argentina striker Sergio Aguero, who joined Manchester City last month. Falcao has signed a five-year deal at the Vicente Calderon. The 25-year-old struck a record-breaking 17 goals in Porto's triumphant UEFA Europa League run last season. Portugal midfielder Ruben Micael, 25, also arrived from Porto on the same length of contract as Falcao after completing a transfer reportedly worth €5m, but will spend the forthcoming campaign on loan at Real Zaragoza.

Getafe 21.8.11
Masilela and Guiza joins Getafe

South Africa international Tsepo Masilela has joined Getafe on a one-year loan deal, with the Primera Liga outfit having the option to make the deal permanent during the season. The left-back joins the Madrid-based club from Maccabi Haifa. The 26-year-old, who spent four years in Israel and earned Champions League experience in the process, becomes the Spanish club's 10th summer signing.

Getafe have also confirmed the return of Dani Guiza after the striker left Turkish club Fenerbahce earlier this week. The former Spanish international has agreed to a three-year contract. The 31-year-old Guiza played for Getafe from 2005-2007. He then signed for Mallorca, becoming the Spanish league's top scorer in 2007-2008 with 27 goals. Guiza helped Spain win the 2008 European championship before moving to Fenerbahce for the past three seasons.

Atletico M 19.8.11
Atletico agree fee for Falcao

Atletico Madrid have agreed to sign Colombia striker Radamel Falcao from Porto for a fee of €40m. The 25-year-old has been a prolific scorer for Porto since joining from River Plate in 2009. Falcao grabbed 38 goals last season to help his team claim the Portuguese league and cup double as well as the UEFA Europa League. His signing will help cover the loss of Argentina striker Sergio Aguero, who left Atletico for Manchester City this summer. Porto also said Atletico had agreed to sign Portugal midfielder Ruben Micael for €5m.
