Dinamo 13.4 : Dinamo Zagreb retained the Croatian title with six games left and clinched their tenth league crown since Croatian independence with a 2-1 win at bottom side Medimurje. The victory keeps Dinamo 19 points ahead of arch-rivals Hajduk Split and brings the prospect of a domestic double one step closer. Coach Zvonimir Soldo's side have a 3-1 first-leg advantage going into the return match of their Croatian Cup semi-final against Zagreb on April 23.
Zadar 4.4 : Croatian forward Hrvoje Custic died after hitting his head on a concrete wall during Zadar's 1-0 home win over Cibalia Vinkovci last weekend. The 24-year-old was fighting for the ball with Cibalia's Tomislav Juric near the sideline when he slid from the field and hit his head on a wall. Juric has not been charged for any offense.
Custic underwent immediate surgery but, despite intensive treatment, his condition worsened on Wednesday. Custic was declared dead on Thursday, having never regained consciousness following the blow to his head. All of this weekend's league fixtures have been postponed as the nation's football community comes to terms with the tragedy.

The Croatian First League (1. HNL) contains 12 teams. After completing a season, the first placed club has to go through qualifying rounds to enter the UEFA Champions League, while the second placed team and the Croatian Cup winners have to go through qualifying rounds to enter the UEFA Cup. The bottom two teams in the Croatian First League will be relegated to the Croatian Second League.
