Panathinaikos have boosted their midfield options after signing Sebastian Leto and Kostas Katsouranis. Liverpool have sold Argentine winger Leto after the two clubs agreed a fee which Greek media put at €4m. The 22-year-old midfielder, who had to spend last season on loan at Olympiakos, has now signed a five-year contract with Panathinaikos. Greek defensive midfielder Katsouranis, 30, has committed until 2013 after sealing a switch from Portuguese side Benfica for €3m.

Djibril Cisse has completed his move from Marseille to Panathinaikos for a fee in the region of €8m. The 27-year-old forward spent last season on loan at Sunderland but the English club didn't make the move permanent.

Olympiakos have signed Swedish international defender Olof Mellberg from Juventus. The 31-year-old has reportedly agreed a three-year deal worth of €2.7million, and is set to officially be presented as a player of the Greek outfit on Monday. Mellberg managed to make 27 appearances for the Bianconeri and scored twice.

Central defender Bruno Cirillo signed a two-year contract with PAOK. The Thessaloniki club did not reveal financial terms but Athens newspaper Ta Nea reported that the 32-year old Cirillo's deal is worth €700,000. Panathinaikos in Champions League

Panathinaikos secured a place in next season's UEFA Champions League after defeating city rivals AEK Athens 2-0 in the final game of the Greek league playoffs on Sunday. Coach Henk Ten Cate's team, who finished the regular season in third place, topped the four-team mini-league for European competitions, six points ahead of AEK. Panathinaikos join Greek champions Olympiakos in the draw for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Greece's representatives in the new Europa League, which replaces the UEFA Cup, will be AEK, PAOK and Larissa.

Olympiakos appoint Ketsbaia as new coach

Greek champions Olympiakos have appointed Temuri Ketsbaia as their new coach in place of Ernesto Valverde. Ketsbaia, 41, resigned from his post at Anorthosis Famagusta in April after helping the club become the first from Cyprus to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage, defeating Olympiacos in the third qualifying round. Valverde failed to agree terms on a contract extension with Olympiakos despite guiding them to their 12th title in 13 seasons and their 14th league and Cup double.

Olympiakos release coach Valverde

Olympiakos have decided not to renew the contract of coach Ernesto Valverde despite the Spaniard leading the club to the league title and Greek Cup. Olympiakos had offered Valverde a €1m contract for next season plus 750,000 euros in potential bonuses, but Valverde reportedly wanted a salary of €1.5m and the demand was rejected. According to media reports, former Anorthosis Famagusta coach Temuri Ketsbaia has agreed to take over.
