Anastasiou appointed Panathinaikos coach
Panthainaikos have appointed Giannis Anastasiou as their new coach following a disappointing season. The former Greece international, 40, replaces Giannis Vonortas, who will return to coaching the academy youth side after acting as caretaker coach for the final few weeks of the season. Vonortas was in charge for the final three matches, having followed Spanish coach Fabri, Argentine Juan Ramon Rocha and Portuguese boss Jesualdo Ferreira. Anastasiou was assistant coach at Panathinaikos from 2008-10 under Dutch coach Hen Ten Cate and was first-team coach at English Premier League side Reading from January to March this year.
Georgiadis replaces Donis at PAOK
Technical director Giorgos Georgiadis will coach PAOK until the end of the season after the club parted company with Giorgos Donis following last weekend's elimination from the Greek Cup to Asteras Tripolis. Georgiadis will take over for the six games of the Super league play-offs. Scheduled to begin on 15 May, the play-offs will decide which teams finish second, third, fourth and fifth, the European spots. Olympiacos have already clinched the title.
AEK to be relegated after fan violence
AEK Athens will be relegated from the Greek league after officials deducted three points from the team for fan violence at a match last weekend. A disciplinary board on Friday also ruled that last Sunday's match would be awarded to relegation rival Panthrakikos 3-0. The team was also docked two points for the start of next season.
