Based on the point totals at the end of the season in the Portuguese Super Liga, the top two teams will be directly qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The third-placed team has to go through qualifying rounds to enter the Champions League. The fourth and fifth-placed teams will be qualified for the UEFA Europa League. The bottom two teams in the Portuguese Super Liga will be relegated to the Portuguese Second Division.
