CSKA Moscow advanced to the Euroleague title game for the fourth year in a row by knocking off Barcelona 78-82 on Friday evening in the opening game of the 2009 Euroleague Basketball Final Four. Ramunas Siskauskas was the hero after scoring 17 of his career-high 28 points in the fourth quarter – including all the points in a 0-11 run that gave CSKA its first lead. In the second semifinal, the Greek derby fell on the side of the Greens as Panathinaikos outlasted Olympiacos by 82-84 in a heart-stopping thriller. Nikola Pekovic led the winners with 20 points.

Each Top 16 group winner plays a quarterfinal against the second-placed team from a different Top 16 group, in three-game head-to-head series. The four teams who win their quarterfinal series advance to the Euroleague Final Four.
