Chivas trade Eskandarian to Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy acquired forward Alecko Eskandarian from Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money and a conditional 2010 draft pick. Eskandarian, an MLS All-Star in 2004 and 2006, has 28 goals and 12 assists in 122 games during his seven-year MLS career. He had one goal in seven games this season. To make room for Eskandarian on their roster, the Galaxy have terminated the contract of midfielder Josh Tudela.

Quakes trade Garcia, Weaver

Toronto have acquired defender Nick Garcia and the rights to Canadian forward Ali Gerba from San Jose. The Earthquakes get Toronto's third round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and undisclosed financial considerations. To make room on the roster for Garcia, goalkeeper Greg Sutton was released. Garcia, 30, played every minute in San Jose's first 12 games this season.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Earthquakes acquired forward Chris Wondolowski from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for forward Cam Weaver. San Jose also received a conditional pick in the 2010 draft. Weaver, who signed with the Quakes in February after two years in Norway, has just one goal in nine appearances for San Jose.

Red Bulls trade Dominic Oduro to Houston

The New York Red Bulls have traded forward Dominic Oduro to Houston for the Dynamo's highest first-round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and thier highest second-round pick in the 2011 draft. Oduro, 23, played in three regular season games for the Red Bulls, starting one. The Red Bulls on Wednesday also waived goalkeeper Terry Boss.

Red Bulls sign Alberto Celades

Spanish midfielder Alberto Celades joined the New York Red Bulls after stints with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Terms of the agreement were not mentioned. The 33-year-old began his career with Barcelona, helping the Catalans win two Spanish league titles. Celades also spent five seasons with Real Madrid, playing a role in winning two Primera Division titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2002.

DC United sign Josh Wicks from Galaxy

D.C. United have acquired goalkeeper Josh Wicks from the Los Angeles Galaxy as a replacement for Zach Wells. The Galaxy receive a conditional 2010 draft pick. Wells began 2008 as United's starting goalie, but he had foot surgery after the season and announced his retirement last month. Wicks had a 2.18 goals-against average for Los Angeles last campaign.

Landon Donovan to return to Galaxy next week

The Los Angeles Galaxy have announced that forward Landon Donovan will rejoin the team on March 10, two days after the end of his loan to Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old, last season's team MVP, has been with the Bundesliga champions on a short-term deal since January 22. Donovan made five Bundesliga appearances and one German Cup appearance for Bayern. Meanwhile, media reports suggested this week that Galaxy and England midfielder David Beckham could remain on loan to Milan until the Italian season is over in July.

Red Bulls trade Chris Leitch to San Jose

The New York Red Bulls have traded defender Chris Leitch to the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money and an international slot. The 29-year-old had two assists in 17 games last season. Leitch also started all four playoff games in the team's run to the MLS Cup Final.

Los Angeles Galaxy waive five players

The Los Angeles Galaxy trimmed their preseason roster to 27 and waived goalkeeper Steve Cronin, midfielder Ely Allen and defenders Brandon McDonald, Mike Randolph and Troy Roberts. The Galaxy have until March 2 to reduce the roster to 24 players. They open the season March 22 at home against DC United.

Dallas traded defender Adrian Serioux to Toronto for a first-round pick in the 2010 draft and allocation money. The 29-year-old, who played on the back line and as a defensive midfielder, had four assists in 2008. Meanwhile, Dallas signed Colombia midfielder David Ferreira from Atletico Paranaense. Ferreira has 38 goals and 42 assists in 175 games for the Brazilian side.

Earthquakes sign Bobby Convey

The San Jose Earthquakes moved quickly to sign Bobby Convey after the American midfielder was released by English club Reading last week. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 25-year-old had 8 goals in 112 appearances in the League Championship and Premier League, which he helped Reading reach for the first time in team history. Convey was released after not making an appearance for the club this season.

Gomez and Graczyk traded to D.C. United

Christian Gomez, the 2006 MLS MVP, and goalie Mike Graczyk were traded to D.C. United by Colorado in a deal that sent midfielder Ivan Guerrero to the Rapids. Gomez originally joined D.C. United in August 2004, and he led the team with 14 goals and 11 assists in 2006. He had 3 goals and 6 assists in 20 games with the Rapids last season.

The Los Angeles Galaxy acquired Dema Kovalenko from Real Salt Lake for allocation money and a conditional draft pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. The 31-year-old midfielder had one goal and two assists in 22 regular-season games for Real Salt Lake last season. Kovalenko added a goal in three postseason appearances.
