Red Bulls acquire Robinson from Toronto

Former Wales international midfielder Carl Robinson has left Toronto to join Major League Soccer rivals New York Red Bulls. New York acquired the 33-year-old in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2011 draft. Robinson played for Toronto the past three years, appearing 74 times for the Canadian side. Prior to joining MLS, Robinson played for a number of English clubs, including Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich and Walsall.

Dallas acquire Kevin Hartman

Dallas have signed goalkeeper Kevin Hartman from the Kansas City Wizards, giving them a second-round selection in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. Hartman, a four-time MLS All-Star, appeared in all 30 regular season games for the Wizards in the 2009 season. The 35-year-old had been looking for a club after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension with Kansas City.

Salt Lake acquire Luis Gil from Wizards

Real Salt Lake today acquired Luis Gil from the Kansas City Wizards in exchange for a 2011 second round draft pick, an international roster spot and a portion of future transfer fees if Gil is sold to an foreign club. The 16-year-old midfielder signed with Major League Soccer last week, and was awarded to the Wizards on Monday via a weighted lottery. Gil was a member of the U.S. team at last year's Under-17 World Cup.

Jimmy Nielsen joins Kansas City Wizards

Denmark goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen is set to join the Kansas City Wizards on a one-year contract after mutually parting ways with Vejle. Financial terms of the transfer have not been released. Nielsen, 32, arrived from Leicester City in January 2008 and has made 70 appearances for the club. Vejle were relegated from the Danish top flight last season and now lie in eight place in the second division.

Red Bulls sign Joel Lindpere from Tromso

Estonia midfielder Joel Lindpere has signed a two-year contract with the New York Red Bulls with an option for two additional years. The 28-year-old arrives from Norwegian club Tromso. Lindpere scored twice in 24 appearances for Tromso last year. He previously played for CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and Flora in Tallinn, Estonia.

Wizards sign Escobar, Auvray

Colombian defender Pablo Andres Escobar has signed with the Kansas City Wizards. The 22-year-old joins the MLS side from Colombian club Deportivo Cali. Kansas City also signed 28-year-old midfielder Stephane Auvray, a Guadeloupe native who was in the French Ligue 2 for the past five years. He played for Caen and was recently with Vannes and Nimes.

Red Bulls acquire Albright from New England

The New York Red Bulls have acquired former U.S. national team defender Chris Albright from the New England Revolution for two picks in the MLS draft. The Revolution acquired Albright from the Los Angeles Galaxy in January 2008. The 31-year-old made 27 appearances for the Revolution, including 26 in 200. Albright was limited to just one appearance in 2009 after an early-season knee injury.

Clint Mathis returning to LA Galaxy

Real Salt Lake traded Clint Mathis to the Los Angeles Galaxy to move up one spot in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft. The Galaxy sent their 15th overall pick and a third-round selection in the 2011 draft to Salt Lake for the 16th pick and the veteran midfielder, who began his MLS career as a first-round choice by Los Angeles in 1998. He briefly returned to Los Angeles in 2007 before spending parts of the past two seasons with Real.

Dallas sign defender Aziz Ansah

Dallas have signed World Cup-bound defender Aziz Ansah of Ghana. The 29-year-old has spent the past two seasons with Heartland in Nigeria. Ansah has also played for teams in Israel, Belgium, Italy and Ghana. He has nine caps with the Ghana National Team and was named the Sportswriters Association of Ghana Best Footballer of 2003.

Dynamo sign Mexican forward Landin

The Houston Dynamo signed Mexico striker Luis Angel Landin on loan from Cruz Azul. The deal for 24-year-old Landin runs through the end of 2010 and the Dynamo hold the option to acquire his rights permanently after that. Landi has appeared in five games for the Mexican national team. He scored seven goals from Cruz Azul this season.

D.C. United signs 2 defenders

D.C. United have acquired defender Julius James from the Houston Dynamo for a third-round pick in the 2012 draft. James has played in eight games with five starts this season for the Dynamo. He is also a member of Trinidad and Tobago's national team. United also signed defender David Habarugira, a veteran of Burundi's national team. Habarugira worked out with United on a trial basis earlier this summer.

Chivas trade Eskandarian to Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy acquired forward Alecko Eskandarian from Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money and a conditional 2010 draft pick. Eskandarian, an MLS All-Star in 2004 and 2006, has 28 goals and 12 assists in 122 games during his seven-year MLS career. He had one goal in seven games this season. To make room for Eskandarian on their roster, the Galaxy have terminated the contract of midfielder Josh Tudela.
