news: transfers

Hamburg 17.1.17
Hamburg sign Papadopoulos on loan

Hamburg have signed defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos on a six-month loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Papadopoulos, 24, had joined Leipzig on loan in the summer but the agreement was cut short after he made just one 27-minute appearance for the title challengers in the first half of the season. The Greece international failed to force his way into coach Ralph Hassenhuttl's plans before having to undergo knee surgery in November, but he will now look to reignite his career with relegation-battling Hamburg.

Bayern 15.1.17
Bayern sign Sule and Rudy

Bayern have completed the signings of Niklas Sule, 21, and Sebastian Rudy, 26, from Hoffenheim. The two Germany internationals will join Bayern on 1 July 2017. Sebastian Rudy signed a three-year contract binding him to the club until 30 June 2020, whereas Sule put his name to a five-year contract until 30 June 2022.

Darmstadt 14.1.17
Sidney Sam loaned to Darmstadt

Schalke 04 have loaned Sidney Sam to Darmstadt for the remainder of the 2016/17 season. The deal will run until 30th June 2017. Sam, who has a contract at Schalke until 2018, has made 109 Bundesliga appearances, 13 of which have come for Schalke. The 28-year-old's time as a Royal Blue has been plagued by injury after moving to Gelsenkirchen from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014.

RB Leipzig 13.1.17
RB Leipzig sign Upamecano

RB Leipzig have signed France youth international Dayot Upamecano from Red Bull Salzburg. The 18-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal after a reported initial fee of €10m was agreed between the clubs. The centre-back, who has represented France from Under-16 through to U-19 level, has made 21 appearances for Salzburg this campaign. Upamecano had been linked with a number of major European sides, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Schalke 13.1.17
Schalke sign Burgstaller

Schalke 04 have completed the signing of Austria international striker Guido Burgstaller from Bundesliga 2 side Nurnberg. The 27-year-old linked up with his new team-mates on Thursday after signing a contract with the Royal Blues until 2020, with Schalke also finalising the signing of Holger Badstuber on a six-month loan deal from Bayern Munchen.

Schalke 10.1.17
Badstuber loaned to Schalke

Defender Holger Badstuber, 27, has moved on loan from Bayern Munchen Schalke 04. Badstuber, who has been plagued by injuries recently, will undergo a medical with the Royal Blues in the coming days. "I'm thankful that Bayern granted me my wish. I'd like to play more at Schalke, which is what I need, I'm looking forward to my time in Gelsenkirchen." said Badstuber.

Wolfsburg 9.1.17
Wolfsburg sign winger Ntep

Struggling Bundesliga club Wolfsburg have signed France international winger Paul-Georges Ntep from Rennes. The deal was worth €5m, according to German media, with Cameroon-born Ntep's contract running until 2021. The 24-year-old scored 18 goals in 74 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes. Ntep is the fourth player to join Wolfsburg since January 1, following the arrival of Yunus Malli, Riechedly Bazoer and Victor Osimhen and the departure of Julian Draxler to Paris Saint-Germain.

Wolfsburg 5.1.17
Wolfsburg sign Victor Osimhen

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Nigeria international teenage striker Victor Osimhen from Lagos-based side Ultimate Strikers Academy. Osimhen, who only turned 18 on 29 December, joins on a three-and-a-half-year deal after rejecting English Premier League side Arsenal. The teenage forward starred at the under-17 World Cup in October 2015, scoring 10 goals to help Nigeria win a record fifth title.

Borussia 5.1.17
Gladbach sign Kolodziejczak

Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of French defender Timothee Kolodziejczak from Sevilla. The 25-year-old, who can play as a central defender or at left-back, put pen to paper on deal running until 2021 after passing medical on Wednesday. Kolodziejczak represented French clubs Lens, Olympique Lyonnais and Nice, before moving to Sevilla in summer 2014. The former France youth international represents Gladbach's first signing since Dieter Hecking took charge as head coach on 22 December 2016.

Hamburg 28.12.16
Mavraj joins Hamburg

Hamburg have signed Albania defender Mergim Mavraj from Bundesliga rivals Cologne to boost their chances of avoiding relegation. Hamburg say the 30-year-old Mavraj signed a deal through June 2019. Mavraj has made 29 appearances for Albania and played 43 league games for Cologne after switching from Greuther Fuerth in 2014.

Wolfsburg 15.12.16
Wolfsburg sign Bazoer from Ajax

Wolfsburg have signed Dutch defensive midfielder Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax Amsterdam. The 20-year-old signed a four and a half year deal through June 2021 and will join the side after the league's winter break. Bazoer has made six appearances for the Netherlands. He has scored six goals in 51 games for Ajax but did not fit into the system used by new coach Peter Bosz.

Hamburg 31.8.16
Hamburg sign defender Douglas Santos

Hamburg have signed Douglas Santos from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro on a five-year deal. Hamburg gave no details about the deal, but German media reports put the transfer at between €7-10 million. Santos, a left-back, was in Brazil's squad that beat Germany in the Olympic final earlier this month in Rio de Janeiro. He signed with Atletico Mineiro in 2014 and helped them to a state championship title in 2015.
