transfers news

Hannover 29.1.12
Hannover sign Mame Diouf

Hannover 96 have signed Senegalese striker Mame Diouf from Manchester United on a contract until the end of June 2014. The 24-year-old will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday. The player joined United from Norwegian side Molde in 2009, and spent the 2010/11 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers. However, the three-times capped international has not made a competitive appearance this season, though he scored once in five substitute showings for the Red Devils in 2009/10.

Freiburg 17.1.12
Lumb loaned to Freiburg

Freiburg have signed Danish defender Michael Lumb on loan from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg until the end of the season. The 23-year-old moved to Zenit from Danish side Aarhus in 2010, but has been unable to hold down a regular place at the Russian club. Freiburg, bottom of the Bundesliga, fired coach Marcus Sorg during the Christmas break and promoted his assistant Christian Streich.

Wolfsburg 12.1.12
Ricardo Rodriguez joins Wolfsburg

Switzerland defender Ricardo Rodriguez has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with Wolfsburg. The Bundesliga side have reportedly paid Swiss club Zurich an initial €6m for the 19-year-old left-back, their eighth signing of the January transfer window. Rodriguez made his international debut in a 2012 European Championship qualifier against Wales last October.

Nurnberg 7.1.12
Omar Gonzalez tears knee ligament

American defender Omar Gonzalez tore a knee ligament during his first practice with Nurnberg and is returning to Los Angeles. Gonzalez tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a tackle Thursday at the club's training camp in Antalya, on the Turkish coast. He is expected to have an operation next week and will miss much if not all of the MLS season. Gonzalez had just joined Nurnberg's camp Thursday on loan from Los Angeles Galaxy and was hoping to play in the Bundesliga during the Major League Soccer offseason. The 23-year-old Gonzalez was voted the MLS defender of the year in 2011 and helped the Galaxy win the championship.

Wolfsburg 6.1.12
Wolfsburg continue winter makeover

Wolfsburg's busy transfer window continued on Thursday as they announced the signings of Brazilian centre-back Felipe Lopes and Ivorian attacking midfielder Ibrahim Sissoko. Both players arrived from Portuguese clubs, with Lopes, 24, signing from Nacional and 20-year-old Sissoko joining from Academica Coimbra. The pair signed contracts until the end of the 2014/15 season. The new arrivals take Wolfsburg's January recruits to seven.

Wolfsburg 4.1.12
Wolfsburg complete fourth winter signing

Wolfsburg have signed Portuguese winger Vieirinha from Greek side PAOK for a transfer fee of around €4m. The 25-year-old, Wolfsburg's fourth new signing this winter, has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract. Vieirinha will team up with fellow new recruits Serbian midfielder Slobodan Medojevic, Macedonian forward Ferhan Hasani and Czech midfielder Petr Jiracek. Germany youth international Tolga Cigerci was one who made room for the new signings, as Borussia Monchengladbach announced his loan deal with an option to buy.

Schalke 26.12.11
Chinedu Obasi moves to Schalke

Chinedu Obasi has joined Shalke from rivals Hoffenheim on loan until the end of the season with a view to making the move permanent in the summer. The Nigeria striker has not scored in 13 games for Hoffenheim this season and was briefly thrown out of the team for arriving late for practice. Obasi moved to Germany in the summer of 2007 from Norwegian first division side Lyn to join Hoffenheim, then in the German second division.

Stuttgart 24.12.11
Stuttgart takes Japan defender Sakai on loan

Stuttgart says it has signed Japan defender Gotoku Sakai from Albirex Niigata on loan until June 2013. The Bundesliga club says it has taken an option to sign Sakai to a longer deal. The defender can play on both flanks. The 20-year-old Sakai has a German mother. He joins Japan striker Shinji Okazaki in Stuttgart's squad.

Wolfsburg 13.12.11
Injury-hit Hleb to leave Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg have announced that Alexander Hleb's loan deal will not be extended in the New Year. The Belarus midfielder joined the Wolfsburg in August on a short-term switch from Barcelona but injuries have restricted him to four appearances. And with his deal ending on 31 December, Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has confirmed the 30-year-old will leave over the winter break. Hleb has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2012, but he is unlikely to feature in manager Pep Guardiola's plans this season.

Kaisers. 10.12.11
Jorgensen joins Kaiserslautern on loan

Bayer Leverkusen forward Nicolai Jorgensen has joined Kaiserslautern on a year-and-a-half loan deal. "Nicolai Jorgensen is a young and hungry player. He is familiar with the Bundesliga and we are confident that he brings qualities that will help us," said Kaiserslautern coach Marco Kurz. Leverkusen CEO Wolfgang Holzhauser also praised the 20-year-old, but explained that due to his side's competitive atmosphere, a move was necessary. The two clubs have confirmed that their agreement includes no option to make the deal permanent, meaning that the player will return to Leverkusen in 2013.

Bayer L. 1.12.11
Leverkusen permanently sign goalkeeper Leno

Bayer Leverkusen have made permanent the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Stuttgart after the 19-year-old's successful loan spell with the club. Leno has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2017. The two sides have not confirmed the fee but it is believed to be approximately €8m. The move throws into doubt the future of goalkeeper Rene Adler, who is recovering from knee surgery and whose contract with Leverkusen expires at the end of the season.

Schalke 22.10.11
Schalke sign Hildebrand

Schalke 04 have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand on a free transfer. The 32-year-old had been looking for a new club since leaving Sporting Clube de Portugal in the summer and the Gelsenkirchen outfit offered him a deal after Ralf Fahrmann suffered ligament damage last Saturday. Hildebrand, a former Germany international, played a major role in helping Stuttgart win the Bundesliga title in 2007 before signing for Valencia. He also played for Hoffenheim for two seasons before moving to Portugal.
