Kone, Elson join Hannover on loan

Struggling Hannover have signed Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone and Brazilian midfielder Elson on loan in an effort to bolster their fight against relegation from the Bundesliga. The 26-year-old Kone is joining from Sevilla, while Elson, 28, arrives from Stuttgart, both until the end of the season. Hannover are in the relegation zone after a poor run that resulted in coach Andreas Bergmann being dismissed and replaced by Mirko Slomka.

Mainz have signed Slovakia defender Radoslav Zabavnik from Terek Grozny and German defender Malik Fathi from Spartak Moscow. The 29-year-old Zabavnik joins the Bundesliga club on a free transfer deal until the end of the season, with an option to extend it through June 2012. The 26-year-old Fathi is returning home on loan for the rest of this campaign. He previously played in the Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin.

Werder Bremen have moved to strengthen their attack and halt their slide down the Bundesliga by signing Germany under-21 striker Sandro Wagner from second division side Duisburg. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract after passing a medical, despite still being in recovery following a torn knee ligament.In return, Werder sent defender Dusko Tosic and forward Kevin Schindler to Duisburg on loan until the end of the season. Schindler already had been on loan to second-division club Augsburg.

Wolfsburg signs Brazilian defender Rever

Wolfsburg have signed Brazilian defender Rever from Gremio Football Porto Alegrense. The 25-year-old centre-back has signed a deal worth €5 million, until 2014. "He's a very talented player at the best age there is for a footballer," said general manager Dieter Hoeness. Rever, however, will have to wait for his debut as he continues his recovery from a fractured hand. At the same time, Wolfsburg released Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa, who moved to Lille in France.

Bochum have completed the transfer of highly rated Schalke 04 youngster Lewis Holtby on a eighteen-month loan deal. The 19-year-old joined Schalke from Alemannia Aachen for a reported €3 million fee at the beginning of the season. The versatile attacker has made nine league appearances for Schalke so far, in which he set up two goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Turkish international Halil Altintop from Schalke for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old striker, whose twin brother Hamit plays for Bayern Munich, played little in Schalke this season under coach Felix Magath. He has only started twice this campaign. Eintracht have two strikers on the long-term injured list, Ioannis Amanatidis and Martin Fenin.

Manchester United have loaned Serbian winger Zoran Tosic to German club Koln until the end of this season. The 22-year-old has failed to make an impression at Old Trafford since arriving a year ago from Partizan Belgrade. Tosic has been restricted to just five substitute appearances for the Manchester United and his two appearances this season were in the League Cup.

Van Nistelrooy joins Hamburg

Ruud van Nistelrooy has cut his ties with Real Madrid and signed a one-and-a-half-year free transfer deal with German side Hamburger. The 33-year-old Dutch striker, who has played for Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven, is the only player to have been top scorer in the English, Dutch and Spanish leagues. Van Nistelrooy finished as the leading scorer in the Primera Division during his first season with Real in 2006/07, but the latter part of his time with the Spanish giants has been plagued by injuries and he has managed just one substitute appearance in the league this season.

Ricardo Clark agrees German switch

United States international Ricardo Clark is set to join Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season, with the option for a further three years. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder was out of contract at Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo. He started 171 of the 182 matches he played in MLS, and helped Houston win MLS titles in 2006 and 2007. Clark has also played 26 games for his country.

Czech midfielder Jan Simak has agreed to move from Stuttgart to Bundesliga rivals Mainz with immediate effect. The 31-year-old has agreed a contract with Mainz until the end of the 2011 season after accepting that he was not part of new Stuttgart coach Christian Gross's plans. Simak joined Stuttgart in 2008. He previously played for Sparta Prague, Carl Zeiss Jena, Bayer Leverkusen and Hannover.
