news: transfers

Hamburg 21.2.15
Diaz sidelined for two months

Hamburger SV will be without the services of midfielder Marcelo Diaz for up to eight weeks after the Chilean injured his knee in training. The 28-year-old only joined the club in the winter transfer window from Basel, but now faces a lengthy spell in the treatment room after taking a knock to his knee, which was subsequently diagnosed with ligament damage.

Wolfsburg 2.2.15
Schuerrle joins Wolfsburg on four-year deal

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Andre Schuerrle from Chelsea for a reported transfer fee in excess of 30m. Schuerrle, 24, will return to Bundesliga some 18 months after joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported transfer fee of 25m and put pen to paper on a contract until 2019, according to the club website.

Hamburg 29.1.15
Olic set to join Hamburg

Ivica Olic has revealed he is set to leave Wolfsburg and return to former side Hamburg. The 35-year-old striker will have a medical on Friday before signing an 18-month contract. The Croatia international scored 29 goals in 78 Bundesliga games during his previous two-and-a-half-year spell at HSV before joining Bayern in 2009.

According to reports in Germany, Andre Schurrle is close to a 30m move to Wolfsburg from Chelsea and it appears the Bundesliga side are making space for that potential move by offloading the forward.

Werder 27.1.15
Vestergaard joins Bremen

Danish international defender Jannik Vestergaard has joined Werder Bremen on a three-and-a-half-year contract from Hoffenheim. The 22-year-old, who made just one league start for the Sinsheim club this season, put pen to paper on a deal until 30 June 2018 after completing a medical on Tuesday afternoon.

Bayer L. 16.1.15
Bayer agree fee for Jedvaj

Roma reportedly have a deal to sell defender Tin Jedvaj to Bayer Leverkusen for 7.5m. The Croatia international was loaned out to the German club last summer and has impressed to such a degree that they want to make the move permanent. Jedvaj would put pen to paper on a contract until June 2019. Roma bought the centre-back from Dinamo Zagreb in July 2013 for 5m.

Schalke 12.1.15
Schalke sign Matija Nastasic on loan

Schalke have signed Matija Nastasic from Manchester City on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old joined City as a teenager in 2012 on a five-year deal. However, the Serbia international has struggled for first-team action under current boss Manuel Pellegrini and has not played in the league for City this season. Nastasic made 13 league appearances last season as City won the title. Schalke, who are fifth in the Bundesliga, have conceded 21 goals in 17 league games compared to leaders Bayern Munich's four.

Mainz 6.1.15
Mainz sign Clemens on loan

Mainz have made their second signing of the winter by taking Christian Clemens from Schalke on loan until the end of next season. The 23-year-old winger has already arrived in Mainz for their first day of training ahead of the second half of the Bundesliga season. He is coach Kasper Hjulmand's second new addition after defender Pierre Bengtsson arrived from Copenhagen.

Bayer L. 6.1.15
Bayer sign Ramalho

Bayer 04 have signed Brazilian defender Andre Ramalho, 22, on a free transfer from Salzburg. His contract at the Werkself runs from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2019. "Ramalho is a talented and young defensive all-rounder who has already had two successful seasons with our coach at RB Salzburg. He won the Austrian league title with Roger Schmidt and made a name for himself through his very good performances, particularly in the UEFA Europa League. He will be able to help us out a lot next season in our many competitive games thanks to his versatility," said Bayer 04 sporting director Rudi Voller.

Frankfurt 26.9.14
Frankfurt signs veteran goalkeeper Hildebrand

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed veteran goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand as a replacement for the injured shot-stopper Kevin Trapp. Trapp, 24, suffered a ligament injury in his ankle in Frankfurt's 2-2 draw with Mainz on Tuesday. The 35-year-old Hildebrand had been without an employer since his contract at Schalke 04 ran out at the end of last season. Hildebrand, who won seven caps for Germany and has played in 298 Bundesliga games, already trained with Eintracht on Thursday.

Hamburg 1.9.14
HSV snap up Holtby on loan

Hamburger SV have secured the signing of Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Lewis Holtby on a season-long loan deal. The 23-year-old German international spent the latter half of the 2013/14 campaign at English side Fulham, having made his name in Germany with Schalke 04, Bochum and Mainz. Between 2011 and 2013, Holtby made 40 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke, scoring on ten occasions. He has made three appearances for Germany, as well as a further 24 for the country's U-21 side.

Hamburg 1.9.14
Green joins Hamburg on loan

Hamburg have taken USA international Julian Green on a season-long loan from Bayern. The 19-year-old made a name for himself at the World Cup this summer by becoming USA's all-time youngest goalscorer at the global finals, but opportunities at club level remained limited. Green, who was born in Florida but grew up in Bavaria and represented Germany at youth level, has yet to make his Bundesliga debut. With Lewandowski and Pizarro ahead of him in the pecking order, he has opted for a move to HSV where he can expect to feature more frequently.

Dortmund 31.8.14
Kagawa to rejoin Borussia Dortmund

Shinji Kagawa has left Manchester United to return to Borussia Dortmund after a disappointing two-year spell at Old Trafford. The Japanese international playmaker arrived at United for a fee in the region of 20m. But the Red Devils have taken a considerable hit on the 25-year-old, who returns to the Bundesliga in an undisclosed deal, reckoned to be around just 8m. Kagawa has signed a four-year deal with Dortmund.
