News - transfers
Lyon sign Bertrand Traore
Lyon have confirmed the signing of Bertrand Traore from Chelsea on a five-year contract. The French club announced the signing on Twitter: "It is official: Bertrand Traore is Lyonnais! A transfer for €10m and a five-year contract." The 21-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Ajax, scoring nine goals in 24 Eredivisie appearances as the club finished runners-up to Feyenoord.
Germain completes Marseille switch
Marseille have completed the signing of Monaco forward Valere Germain on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old passed a medical to become Marseille's first summer signing. He has spent the majority of his career with Monaco, but had a brief spell on loan at Nice in 2015/2016. Germain scored 49 goals in 200 league appearances for Monaco.
Bordeaux sign striker Mendy
Bordeaux have reached an agreement with Guingamp over the signing of striker Alexandre Mendy. The 24-year-old started his youth career with Nice, and made his senior debut in 2013. He went on to make 18 appearances for them, and in between spent loan spells at Strasbourg and Nimes. He joined Guingamp last season, and scored three goals for them in 22 appearances, of which 17 have come from the bench.
Guingamp sign Camara
Guinea international Abdoul Camara has joined Guingamp on a two-year deal, a day after parting company with English club Derby County. The 27-year-old winger, who joined the English Championship side from French Ligue 1 team Angers in January 2016, had his Rams contract cancelled by mutual consent on Thursday. Camara played 26 games and scored just once during his time at Derby. The much-travelled and vastly-experienced Camara has previously played for French outfits Rennes and Sochaux, Greek club PAOK and Spanish side Mallorca.
Monaco complete signing of Jordi Mboula
Monaco have completed the signing of wonderkid Jordi Mboula on a five-year deal from Barcelona. The 18-year-old has swapped the famed Barcelona academy for the challenge of Ligue 1 football. Mboula was expected to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants but has instead joined Monaco in a €3m move. The youngster, who has represented Spain at various age levels, has garnered plenty of attention and praise after scoring some stunning goals.
Monaco sign Meite
Monaco have announced the signing of midfielder Soualiho Meite from Lille. The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Belgian club Zulte Waregem, has agreed a five-year deal. Meite helped Zulte Waregem lift the Belgian Cup at the end of the campaign and is looking forward to the prospect of playing for the defending French champions.
Benaglio, Gaspar join Monaco
Monaco have secured the services of Swiss goalkeeper Diego Benaglio after his long association with Wolfsburg ended. The 33-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions. The former Switzerland goalkeeper, who retired from international football in 2014, will compete with Danijel Subasic and Morgan De Sanctis for the number one shirt. Benaglio made 14 league appearances last season.
Jordy Gaspar has signed a three-year deal with Ligue 1 champions Monaco. The 20-year-old defender, a France Under-20 international, made just three appearances for Lyon last season. Gaspar joined Lyon's youth ranks in 2008 and spent three campaigns with the B team before stepping up last season. Gaspar's departure follows news that Lyon have signed Brazilian left-back Fernando Marcal from Benfica.
Fernando Marcal joins Lyon
Lyon have signed full-back Fernando Marcal from Benfica for €4.5 million. The 28-year-old caught the eye on loan to Lyon's French top-flight rivals Guingamp last season, registering seven assists in 31 league games for the Breton club. The Brazilian, who came through Gremio's youth academy, has signed a four-year deal with the seven-time French champions.
Falcao signs new deal
Radamel Falcao has signed a new three-year contract extension at Monaco - committing himself to the club until 2020. After disappointing loan spells at Manchester United and Chelsea, Falcao has now rediscovered his best form and last season enjoyed his most prolific campaign since his departure from Atletico Madrid as Monaco claimed the Ligue 1 title. The 31-year-old striker scored 30 goals in all competitions as Leonardo Jardim's side ended Paris Saint-Germain's four-year dominance of French football while also reaching the last four of the Champions League.
Monaco sign Tielemans
Monaco have signed Belgium's young player of the year Youri Tielemans from Anderlecht for a reported 25m euros. The midfielder, 20, agreed to a five-year deal with the French champions. He scored 13 league goals for Anderlecht last season to help them win the Belgian title.
"Monaco is a club with an ambitious project, recognised on the European stage, and which relies on young players," Tielemans said. "I am very happy to be here. I will now do everything possible to progress here and repay the confidence the club have shown in me."
Jorge moves to Monaco
Monaco have signed Jorge on a five-year deal that will tie the Brazilian defender to the club until June 2021. After making his debut in futsal with Vasco de Gama, Rio-born Jorge moved to Flamengo, where he came through the academy system. Having made regular appearances for his country at youth level, he was part of the Brazil team that made it to the final of the U20 World Championships in New Zealand in 2015. Jorge made more than 80 appearances for Flamengo, and has one senior international cap for Brazil.
Lille sign El Ghazi
Lille has made its first signing of the January transfer window by bringing Dutch striker Anwar El Ghazi on a 4 1/2-year deal on deadline day. El Ghazi, who can either play in a lone striker's role or wide, joined from Ajax. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but sports daily L'Equipe said El Ghazi was bought for a fee of €7 million.
