news: transfers

Monaco 22.1.15
Monaco make Silva move permanent

Monaco have signed midfielder Bernardo Silva on permanent terms after a successful loan spell from Benfica. The 20-year-old has appeared in 15 Ligue 1 games and three more in the Champions League since joining the principality club in the summer.

Montpel. 20.1.15
Montpellier snap up Roussillon

Montpellier have secured the services of Sochaux defender Jerome Roussillon from the start of next season. The 22-year-old left-back has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract but will spend the rest of the 2014/15 campaign on loan with Sochaux before moving to the Stade de la Mosson permanently on 30 June.

Lyon 17.1.15
Lyon sign Gnaly Maxwel Cornet

Lyon have signed Gnaly Maxwel Cornet from Metz. Cornet, 18, moves with immediate effect to the Ligue 1 front-runners and has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal. The forward has been out of favour with Metz this season, having told club officials in the summer he would not be renewing his contract that was due to expire at the end of the current campaign. Cornet, born in the Ivory Coast, joined Metz as a seven-year-old and signed professional terms aged 16.

Nice 4.1.15
Ben Arfa to join Nice

Hatem Ben Arfa is set to depart Newcastle and return to France after Nice announced a deal had been agreed in principle. The forward has been left in limbo after the failure of a loan spell with Hull, with Tigers boss Steve Bruce cutting short his stay at the KC Stadium but Newcastle unwilling to reintegrate him into their squad.

Bordeaux 19.8.14
Bordeaux sign Ilori on loan

Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori has joined Bordeaux on loan. The 21-year-old joined Brendan Rodgers' side last summer after completing an 10m move from Portuguese club Sporting. However, with Liverpool well stocked for defenders, the youngster will spend a season-long loan with the Ligue 1 side after spending a successful spell in the second half of last season with Spanish side Granada.

Montpel. 13.8.14
Barrios joins Montpellier on loan

Montpellier have confirmed the signing of striker Lucas Barrios on a one-year loan deal from Spartak Moscow. Barrios, 29, struggled to find form with the Russian club, scoring two goals in 16 appearances after signing from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande for 7m last summer.

Bordeaux 11.8.14
Bordeaux sign Contento

Bordeaux have signed defender Diego Contento from Bayern Munich on a four-year contract. The 24-year-old had spent his entire career at Bayern having coming up through the club's youth system before making his first-team debut in 2010. Contento, who plays primarily as a left-back, found himself stuck behind Lahm, Alaba and Rafinha in the pecking order though and made just 49 league appearances over the past five seasons. His arrival at Bordeaux will help fill the void left by the departure of Argentine defender Lucas Orban who moved to Spanish side Valencia earlier on Monday.

Monaco 10.8.14
Monaco sign Stekelenburg and Bernardo on loan

Monaco have signed Netherlands goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, 31, and promising Benfica midfielder Bernardo Silva, 20, on loan for the season. Stekelenburg comes from Fulham, who were relegated from the Premier League last season before he missed out on the World Cup. Portuguese Under-21 international Bernado only made three senior appearances for Benfica last season. Instead he played regularly for the B team as they finished fifth in the second division and was three times the league's player of the month.

Lorient 7.8.14
Mostefa joins Lorient

Algerian international midfielder Mehdi Mostefa has signed a three-year deal with Lorient moving from Ajaccio. The 30-year-old was born in France but has won 25 caps for Algeria and was in their squad at the World Cup in Brazil. Before his 101 games for Ajaccio he played in the French lower leagues with Valence, Sete and Nimes after his time in the youth ranks at Monaco.

Bastia 7.8.14
El-Hadji Ba joins Bastia on loan

Sunderland midfielder El-Hadji Ba has joined Bastia on a season-long loan. The 21-year old Frenchman, who looked to have fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light after the arrival of Jack Rodwell, links up with Claude Makelele's side and could make his Ligue 1 debut for the Blues against Marseille in the season-opener this weekend. Ba joined the Black Cats last summer from French second division side Le Havre, making his debut against Carlisle United in the FA Cup, scoring in the 3-1 win, before making two more appearances for the club.

Rennes 6.8.14
Fernandes joins Stade Rennais

Midfielder Gelson Fernandes has joined Stade Rennais from German club Freiburg, for a fee believed to be in the region of 1.5m. Rennais are now also the ninth club of the Switzerland international's career and his sixth since 2010. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Rennais.

Nice 6.8.14
Diawara signs for Nice

Senegal international Souleymane Diawara, out of contract after five years with Marseille, has signed for Ligue 1 rivals Nice. The 35-year-old defender has won two French titles, with Bordeaux in 2009 and Marseille the following year. He is the south coast club's third recruit of the close season, after Swedish midfielder Niklas Hult and Belgium's Julien Vercauteren.
