transfers news

Marseille 3.7.09
Marseille set for double signing

Marseille have agreed to sign defender Souleymane Diawara from French champion Bordeaux and midfielder Edouard Cisse from Besiktas. Diawara, 30, arrives on a four-year contract and was likely to cost around €5m. Cisse, 31, returns to his native country joining on a free transfer from the Turkish champions and penning a two-year deal. This week, Marseille also agreed to sign Lucho Gonzalez from Porto on a four-year contract for around €18m.

Marseille 1.7.09
Lucho Gonzalez set for big-money Marseille move

Marseille have agreed to sign Lucho Gonzalez from Portuguese champions Porto. The Argentine midfielder is expected to cost Marseille a club record fee in the region of €18m. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since April with a knee problem but Marseille are confident the player will pass his medical and will sign a four-year contract. Gonzalez has been a key performer for Porto since joining the club from River Plate during the 2005/06 season.

Paris SG 30.6.09
Landreau out, Coupet in at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have signed goalkeeper Gregory Coupet from Atletico Madrid, while Mickael Landreau has left for Lille. Coupet has returned to his homeland on a two-year contract after failing to secure a regular place at Atletico, who he joined last July. The 36-year-old former Lyon star should also be joined at PSG by Sochaux' Turkish forward Mevlut Erding. The 29-year-old Landreau, who had one year remaining on his PSG contract, has moved to Lille on a three-year deal to make room for Coupet's arrival.

Bordeaux 30.6.09
Bordeaux capture Carrasso

French champions Bordeaux have announced the signing of goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso from Toulouse. His transfer fee is thought to have been in the region of €10 million. The 27-year-old is France's third-choice goalkeeper but has yet to win his first cap for Les Bleus. Carrasso joined Toulouse last summer from Marseille and helped them finish fourth in Ligue 1 last term and with the best defensive record in the French top flight.

Toulouse 30.6.09
Yohann Pele set for move to Toulouse

Toulouse have signed goalkeeper Yohann Pele on a four-year free transfer deal from Le Mans. The 26-year-old has decided to leave Le Mans after eleven years and 165 league matches with the club. Pele replaces Bordeaux-bound Cedric Carrasso. Toulouse have already brought in Cameroonian defender Dany Nounkeu, Antoine Devaux and Brazilian midfielder Luan this summer.

Rennes 21.6.09
Rennes capture Inamoto

Japan midfielder Junichi Inamoto has joined Rennes from German side Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent. The 29-year-old, who has won 71 caps for Japan, has agreed a two-year contract. Inamoto started his professional career under new Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti while both men were at Gamba Osaka in Japan.

Bordeaux 29.5.09
Bordeaux make Gourcuff move permanent

Bordeaux have confirmed the permanent signing of France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff from Milan for a €15m transfer fee. The 22-year-old Frenchman has put pen to paper on a four-year contract. He arrived on a season-long loan from the Italian team in June. Gourcuff, named Ligue 1 Player of the Year by his fellow professionals on Sunday, scored 12 league goals this season to lead Bordeaux to the brink of their first title since 1999.

Lyon 26.5.09
Brazilian Juninho to leave Lyon

Juninho Pernambucano and Lyon have parted company by mutual consent following the club's first trophy-less campaign since the Brazilian playmaker joined in June 2001. Juninho's arrival coincided with the start of Lyon's record seven successive Ligue 1 titles. He scored his 100th goal for Lyon during a 3-1 home victory against Caen in what was his last appearance for the club last weekend. Juninho, 34, is suspended for the last round of games next Saturday.

Marseille 16.1.09
Wiltord makes Marseille move, Givet joins Blackburn

Marseille have signed their second striker in as many days with the addition of former French international Sylvain Wiltord from Rennes, while defender Gael Givet has been loaned to Blackburn Rovers. Wiltord, 34, arrives on a sixth-month loan after falling out of favour at Rennes. Givet, 27, moves to Blackburn for the rest of the season with the option for a permanent transfer. He has not made Marseille's lineup this campaign following a falling out with coach Erik Gerets.

Marseille 14.1.09
Brandao boosts Marseille attack

Marseille have reached an agreement to sign Brazilian striker Brandao from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported €6m fee. Coach Erik Gerets was keen to strengthen his forward line with Mamadou Niang still sidelined after breaking a bone in his right foot last month. Meanwhile, Marseille allowed Slovenian international defender Bostjan Cesar to join Grenoble on a two-and-a-half year contract.
