news: transfers

Basaksehir 16.1.17
Caicara joins Basaksehir

Basaksehir have reached an agreement with Schalke for the transfer of defender Junior Caicarag for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old right-back joined the German club in summer 2015 from the then Bulgarian champions Ludogorets. The Brazilian, who also has a Bulgarian passport, made 26 Bundesliga appearances, including three in the current season. Basaksehir are unbeaten atop the Turkish Super Lig ahead of giants Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Trabzon 7.1.17
Castillo completes permanent move to Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor has permanently acquired winger Fabian Castillo from FC Dallas. Castillo, 24, joined Trabzonspor on Aug. 4, 2016 on loan with an option to buy. Trabzonspor exercised its option today, completing the deal to purchase Castillo. The 24-year-old has yet to score a goal in his time in Turkey's first division, although he has posted one assist in 14 matches.

Besiktas 6.1.17
Mitrovic joins Besiktas

Rijeka defender defender Matej Mitrovic has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with Besiktas. The Croatian international joined Rijeka from Cibalia Vinkovci in 2013, and helped the team to win Croatian Cup. His first international appearance came in Argentina friendly in 2014, while Mitrovic played in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Finland this autumn, as well as Northern Ireland friendly in Belfast. At Kosovo, Mitrovic scored his first international goal.

Besiktas 3.1.17
Babel joins Besiktas

Forward Ryan Babel has joined Turkish side Besiktas. The 30-year-old ex-Netherlands international, whose short-term deal with Deportivo La Coruna came to an end on New Year's Eve, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal. Besiktas said in a statement that Babel will earn €1.3m for the rest of this season and then €2.1m per year for the next two campaigns. He previously spent two years in Turkey at Kasimpasa before leaving in 2015.

Galatas. 31.8.16
Galatasaray complete Nigel de Jong signing

Galatasaray have signed Nigel de Jong, 34, from LA Galaxy on a two-year contract. De Jong made $500,000 this season, and had he remained with Galaxy, not only would he have received a salary increase into the multi-million dollar range, but LA would have been at the maximum number of Designated Players. For that reason, Galaxy have let the tough-tackling midfielder move on. De Jong reunites with former Netherlands international teammate Wesley Sneijder at Galatasaray as well as with manager Jan Olde Riekerink, who coached at Ajax during De Jong's days there as a youth player.

Fenerb. 30.8.16
Lens moves to Fenerbahce on loan

Fenerbahce have completed the signing of Jeremain Lens from Sunderland on a season-long loan. Lens, 28, joined Sunderland in an £8 million transfer from Dinamo Kiev just over 12 months ago, but made only 14 Premier League starts since then. The forward revealed he would have a medical on Tuesday ahead of joining Fenerbahce, and the Turkish club have now confirmed news of the transfer.

Besiktas 29.7.16
Barca's Adriano seals move to Besiktas

Besiktas have completed the signing of Adriano Correia from Barcelona on three-year contract for an initial €600,000. The Spanish champion says that the deal is includes a clause that increases the transfer fee to €1.7m if Adriano helps Besiktas qualify for the Champions League. The 31-year-old made 113 league appearances for Barca, but injuries limited his appearances in recent seasons. Meanwhile, defender Jeremy Mathieu has turned down an offer to leave the Camp Nou and join the Turkish club.

Fenerb. 14.7.16
Skrtel completes transfer to Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce have confirmed the €6m signing of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel. The 31-year-old ends an eight-and-half year spell with the Merseysiders after falling down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp last season. The centre-back will be unveiled officially as a Fenerbahce player on Friday in a press conference after he passed a medical on Wednesday. Skrtel played every minute of Slovakia's Euro 2016 campaign, where the team reached the last 16 before being eliminated by Germany.

Fenerb. 6.7.16
Fenerbahce complete signing of Roman Neustadter

Roman Neustadter has completed his move from Schalke to Fenerbahce after turning down the Bundesliga club's offer of a new contract. The Turkish club announced last week they had opened talks with the 28-year-old, who started Russia's first two matches at Euro 2016. Neustadter became a free agent last week when his contract with the Royal Blues expired, and he branded the Gelsenkirchen-based club disrespectful for the way they had treated him.

Fenerb. 29.6.16
Fenerbahce confirm Skrtel deal

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is on the verge of finalising his transfer to Fenerbahce, according to the Turkish club's president Aziz Yildirim. Slovakia international captain Skrtel, 31, has been linked with a move to the Istanbul-based side in a deal reportedly set to be worth €6.5m, bringing an end to his eight-and-a-half year stay on Merseyside. Paris Saint-Germain right back Gregory van der Wiel is set to join Skrtel, while striker Robin van Persie could leave Fener despite finishing the league campaign with 16 goals in 31 appearances.
