After an unhappy spell in Scotland with Rangers, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jerome Rothen joins Turkish side Ankaragucu on a three-month loan. Ankaragucu have announced the signing of Slovakia midfielder Marek Sapara from Rosenborg. The 27-year old has been a regular in the Norwegian champions since his transfer from Ruzomberok in August 2006. Giovani Dos Santos joins Galatasaray on loan

Galatasaray have taken Mexico striker Giovani Dos Santos on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season with the option of making the deal permanent. The 20-year-old joined Tottenham from Barcelona in June 2008 but has played just 15 matches for the London club and only a brief substitute appearance in the league this season. Giovani is the third Premier League player to join Galatasaray in the January transfer window after Lucas Neill and Jo were both recruited by the Turkish side.

Jo quits Everton to join Galatasaray

Brazil striker Jo has joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan until the end of this season. Jo was on a loan from Manchester City to their league rivals Everton, where he scored 7 goals in 36 appearances during two spells at Goodison Park. However, Jo has endured a difficult period this term, scoring just two goals and finding first-team opportunities limited. He was also suspended by Everton after flying home to Rio de Janeiro without permission last month.

Unal leaves Trabzonspor for Fenerbahce

Striker Gokhan Unal has joined Fenerbahce from league rivals Trabzonspor for a fee of €3.5m, with winger Burak Yilmaz set to move the other way as part of the deal. Gokhan, 27, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Fenerbahce, while Trabzonspor have secured the services of the 24-year-old Yilmaz, currently on loan at Eskisehirspor, for next season. Galatasaray confirm Lucas Neill transfer

Australian defender Lucas Neill has cut short his Everton career after less than four months at Goodison Park, joining Turkish side Galatasaray on a one-and-a-half year deal. The 31-year-old signed for Everton on a free transfer in September after rejecting a new deal at West Ham where he was captain and has made 15 appearances for the Merseyside club.

Neill joins Galatasaray for an undisclosed fee reported to be to about €0.9m. Meanwhile, Milan Baros faces another month on the sidelines after the Czech striker underwent a second operation on the broken foot he suffered in October. Baros, last season's 20-goal Turkish league top scorer, had scored five goals in ten league appearances prior to being sidelined.

Elano completes move to Galatasaray

Brazil midfielder Elano has joined Turkish side Galatasaray from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee. The 28-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at the Istanbul club after two campaigns at City where he made 62 Premier League appearances, scoring 14 goals. Elano fell out of favor with City manager Mark Hughes last season, after becoming a fans' favorite the previous season when signed by previous manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Darius Vassell seals Turkish switch

Darius Vassell has joined Turkish side Ankaragucu on a free transfer following his release by Manchester City. The 29-year-old England striker has signed a two-year deal. Vassell fell down the pecking order at Manchester City last season and became surplus to requirements with the addition of Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor. Vassell scored 17 goals in 103 appearances with City after joining from Aston Villa in 2005.

Matteo Ferrari joins Turkish champions

Genoa defender Matteo Ferrari has joined Besiktas on a four-year contract. The Turkish titleholders have paid in the region of €6m for the 29-year-old centre-back's services, with a salary reported at €2.5m for each season. Ferrari has been capped 11 times by Italy, but the last of those outings came five years ago. He joined Genoa from Roma last summer.

Fenerb. 6.7.09
Fenerbahce hire Christoph Daum

Christoph Daum has officially been appointed Fenerbahce coach after leaving Koln earlier this month. The German has signed a three-year contract, returning to the club for a second spell in charge. Daum, who led Fenerbahce to two Turkish league championships, was sacked by the Istanbul giants after losing the Turkish league title to arch-rivals Galatasaray on the last day of the 2005/06 season. Fenerbahce have also signed Brazilian defender Fabio Bilica from Sivasspor for €2.5m. The 30-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with fellow centre-back Yasin Cakmak travelling in the opposite direction along with three as yet unspecified loan signings.
