transfers news

Celtic 3.2.10
Robbie Keane signs loan deal with Celtic

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Robbie Keane on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season. The 29-year-old Ireland striker rejoined Spurs from Liverpool a year ago but failed to recapture the form that had previously made him a fan favourite. He has scored nine goals in 25 appearances this season.

Manager Harry Redknapp used Keane as part of a rotating strikeforce with Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and occasionally Roman Pavlyuchenko but he has been allowed to leave on loan following Eidur Gudjohnsen's arrival at White Hart Lane last week. Celtic also tied up loan deals for Bayern Munich's Dutch full back Edson Braafheid and Fulham's Senegalese striker Diomansy Kamara.

Celtic swoop for Rasmussen

Celtic have signed Denmark striker Morten Rasmussen from Brondby on a three-and-a-half-year contract. The 24-year-old, who has won three caps for Denmark, turns 25 on Sunday and will bolster an attack heavily dependent upon Australia forward Scott McDonald and Greece striker Georgios Samaras. Rasmussen scored 52 goals in 111 games for Brondby after signing for the club from Aarhus in 2006.

Celtic 14.12.09
Korea midfielder Ki joins Celtic

South Korea midfielder Ki Sung Yueng has signed a four-year contract with Celtic. The 20-year-old will join the Scottish giants from Seoul at the start of 2010 in a deal reportedly worth €2m, having secured a work permit ahead of the January transfer window. Ki, named Asian Young Player of the Year in 2009, has already made 18 appearances for the South Korean national team, scoring 4 goals.

Rangers 1.9.09
Rothen joins Rangers on loan

French midfielder Jerome Rothen has joined Scottish champion Glasgow Rangers on a one-year loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Rangers have an option to buy the 31-year-old, who helped Monaco reach the 2004 UEFA Champions League final and was a member of the France squads at the 2004 and 2008 European Championships. Rothen had been expected to join Schalke but the transfer collapsed.

Celtic 25.7.09
Defender Daniel Fox joins Celtic

Celtic have secured the services of defender Daniel Fox from Coventry City for a fee of €1.7m. The 23-year-old left-back has agreed a four-year contract. Fox becomes new Celtic manager Tony Mowbray's third summer signing following the arrivals of Marc-Antoine Fortune and loanee Landry N'Guemo from Nancy-Lorraine.

Celtic 9.7.09
Celtic sign Nancy duo

Marc-Antoine Fortune has become Tony Mowbray's first signing as Celtic manager after the Scottish Premier League club agreed a €4.4m fee with Nancy for the striker. The 27-year-old has agreed to a three-year contract. Fortune spent the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion where Mowbray was in charge. In addition, Cameroonian midfielder Landry N'Guemo has made the same move, joining Celtic on loan with the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
