Braga 4.7.09 Possebon joins Braga on loanBrazilian-born midfielder Rodrigo Possebon has joined Braga on loan from Manchester United. The 20-year-old, capped once by Italy at Under-20 level, made his senior debut for United last term but spent much of his time in the reserve team. Braga start their UEFA Europa League campaign in the third qualifying round on 30 July.
Sporting 29.6.09 Matias Fernandez joins SportingSporting have agreed to sign Chilean midfielder Matias Fernandez from Villarreal. The 23-year-old had been in discussions with the Portuguese club for over a week regarding a €4.5m move, and Sporting confirmed that they have concluded negotiations with both Villarreal and the player over a four-year contract. Fernandez scored 7 goals in 86 games in three seasons at Villarreal, but struggled to hold down a place in the starting eleven.
Benfica 28.6.09 Benfica sign Saviola from Real MadridReal Madrid have agreed to sell out-of-favour striker Javier Saviola to Benfica for €5m. The 27-year-old Argentine international has joined the Portuguese club for three years, with an option for a fourth. Saviola has barely featured for Real since arriving from Barcelona in 2007. He started less than 20 league games during his two seasons in the Spanish capital and Real are willing to let him leave following the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.
Braga 25.6.09 Fernando Alexandre signs for BragaBraga have completed the transfer of midfielder Fernando Alexandre from Estrela Amadora. The 23-year-old is one of many players making an exit from Amadora as Vitor Moreno and Hugo Gomes also left for Leiria, with many more expected. The 23-year-old arrives on a free transfer and signed a four-year contract with Braga.
Braga 20.6.09 Braga signs Angelo PenaBraga have signed Venezuelan midfielder Angelo Pena from Estudiantes de Merida for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old has penned a three-year deal. Still searching for a coach to replace Jorge Jesus, who moved to Benfica earlier this week, Braga will start their UEFA Europa League campaign in the third qualifying round.
Porto 4.6.09 Porto announce double capturePorto have signed Brazilian defender Maicon from Cruzeiro and Uruguay left-back Alvaro Pereira from Cluj. Maicon, 20, played 28 games on loan at Nacional last season, helping the Portuguese club to a fourth-placed finish and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. Pereira, 24, has also signed a five-year contract with Porto having paid €4.5m for 80 per cent of his sporting rights.
Benfica 21.5.09 Benfica sign Ramires from CruzeiroBenfica have announced the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Ramires from Cruzeiro for a €7.5m fee. The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Benfica. Ramires, who scored 27 goals in 105 matches with Cruzeiro, was a member of Brazil's team which won the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics. He was called up to the national team for the first time by coach Dunga on Thursday.
Porto 31.1.09 Porto acquire midfielder Andres Madrid on loanPorto have signed midfielder Andres Madrid on loan until the end of the season from Braga. Porto have the option to make the deal for the 27-year-old Argentinian a permanent one. The former Club Atletico Platense player arrived at the UEFA Cup contenders from Club Gimnasia y Esgrima in 2004 and went on to become a regular, playing in 61 league matches in his first three seasons at the club. However, last season Madrid featured just eleven times and this term has appeared in just one of Braga's 15 Liga fixtures.
Porto 11.1.09 Porto sign Cissokho from SetubalPorto have made their first signing of the transfer window with French defender Aly Cissokho joining the Portuguese champions for an undisclosed fee from Setubal. Cissokho, 21, arrived at Setubal last summer from French side Gueugnon and quickly established himself in Portugal, playing all 13 matches in the league for his new team this season.
