Congo-born Makukula, 26, spent the first half of this campaign at Maritimo, scoring 7 goals in 13 Portuguese league games. His form with Maritimo has proved enough to win him three caps for Portugal.

Sporting 29.1 : Sporting Portugal have taken Leandro Grimi on loan from Milan until the end of the season, with an option to buy the Argentinian defender for a fee of around €3m. Grimi moves to the Lisbon club after spending the first half of the season on loan at Siena. The 22-year-old began his career at Huracan and also featured briefly for Racing Avellaneda before joining Milan last season.

Braga 17.1 : Braga have completed the signing of Chile defender Pablo Contreras on a short-term contract until the end of the season, just a week after he was released by Celta Vigo. The 29-year-old centre-back ended his seven-year association with Celta last week having made just three starts for the Spanish second-division club this season.

Sporting 17.1 : Sporting Portugal have signed Brazilian forward Rodrigo Tiui on a free transfer after he was released early from his contract with Fluminense. The 22-year-old was loaned to both Noroeste and Santos in 2006 before returning to his original club. Rodrigo scored eleven goals in 74 league games for Fluminense.

Porto 17.1 : Porto have recalled midfielder Rabiola from a loan spell at Guimaraes. The 18-year-old officially joinedr Porto at the end of last season but was allowed to stay at Guimaraes to continue his development. Rabiola has scored one goal in four league games this season.

Porto 15.1 : Porto have recalled Portuguese winger Helder Barbosa from his loan spell at Academica Coimbra to cover for Moroccan international Tarik Sektioui's departure to the African Cup of Nations. The 20-year-old Barbosa has made 23 appearances for Academica during the last two seasons.

Benfica 15.1 : Romanian under-21 international defender Laszlo Sepsi has joined Benfica on a five-and-a-half-year contract after passing a medical. The left-back arrives from Romanian side Gloria Bistrita for an undisclosed fee, but Portuguese media reported the deal to be around €1.8m. The deal represents a second move abroad for 21-year-old Sepsi, who spent the 2005/06 campaign with Rennes in France.

Braga 3.1 : Braga have completed the transfer of defender Miguelito from Benfica. The 26-year-old left-back has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
