sports betting newsEngland 19.11 : Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has been ruled out of England's friendly against Germany after dislocating his shoulder. Walcott was injured in training in Berlin and coach Fabio Capello is now without at least eight of his first choice players. Chelsea's Joe Cole, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, Manchester United duo Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard and Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey are all sidelined with injuries. Captain John Terry passed a fitness test on Monday. England 17.11 : John Terry will undergo tests to determine whether he is fit enough to play in England's friendly against Germany on Wednesday. The England captain limped off the field during Chelsea's 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and manager Luiz Felipe Scolari said the defender had injured his foot. Manchester United duo Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will also miss the Berlin match due to various problems. Chelsea's Joe and Ashley Cole and Wigan striker Emile Heskey had already been ruled out. Sweden 16.11 : Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Olof Mellberg will miss Sweden's friendly against the Netherlands on Wednesday after being given time off by coach Lars Lagerback upon request. Ibrahimovic has had a busy schedule recently, while Mellberg also wants to rest from a recent intensive game and travel schedule, Lagerback said in a statement. France 16.10 : Raymond Domenech will continue as France coach until 2010. All but one of the French Football Federation council's 20 members voted on Wednesday in favour of Domenech staying, said Federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes. The same council decided in July that the 56-year-old would stay in charge despite France's group stage exit from EURO 2008 but the coach had then been told he needed to improve results. Domenech, who has had a difficult relationship with some of his players and the media, appeared in danger of being sacked after France started their qualifying campaign for the 2010 World Cup with a shock 3-1 defeat in Austria. France then defeated Serbia 2-1 at home and fought back from two goals down for a 2-2 draw in Romania before convincingly beating Tunisia 3-1 in a friendly at Stade de France on Tuesday. Germany 15.10 : Michael Ballack could miss Wednesday's World Cup qualifying game against Wales in Moenchengladbach. The Germany captain missed practice Monday and Tuesday due to a right calf injury. Ballack was hurt during Saturday's 2-1 win over Russia, in which the Chelsea midfielder scored the second goal. Germany have won seven matches, drawn six and lost two against Wales, with most of the games close. England 14.10 : Defenders John Terry, Ashley Cole and backup goalkeeper Robert Green have been ruled out of England's World Cup qualifying game at Belarus because of injuries. England captain Terry will miss Wednesday's match because of the back problem which kept him out of last weekend's win over Kazakhstan. Cole suffered a strain to his right hamstring during Saturday's game, while Green reported for training on Monday with soreness in his knee. Italy 13.10 : Italy coach Marcello Lippi has called up Fabio Quagliarella to replace the suspended Luca Toni for the World Cup qualifier against Montenegro. Toni came on as a substitute in a 0-0 draw with Bulgaria on Saturday and picked up a yellow card that ruled him out of Wednesday's match. Quagliarella has scored three goals in nine appearances for Italy. However, Alberto Gilardino will likely start at center forward against Montenegro. Lippi also has injury concerns, with Daniele De Rossi suffering from a bruised thigh and Gennaro Gattuso struggling with a knee problem. The coach is already without Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo, Mauro Camoranesi, Fabio Grosso, Marco Materazzi and Vincenzo Iaquinta. Czech 12.10 : Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech is expected to miss the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia after suffering a thigh injury. The Chelsea shot-stopper picked up the problem in his side's 2-1 defeat to Poland on Saturday. Cech's absence would be another blow for coach Petr Rada, who was already without midfielder Tomas Rosicky because of a long-term knee injury. Germany 12.10 : Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed Kevin Kuranyi will not play for the national team again as long as he is in charge. Low said on Sunday he would no longer select the Schalke forward after his reaction to being left out of the team that beat Russia 2-1 at home in a 2010 World Cup qualifier on Saturday. Kuranyi left his team colleagues in the stands at the end of the first half in Dortmund and did not return to the team hotel later. The 26-year-old has made a total of 52 appearances for Germany, scoring 19 goals, but he has recently fallen behind Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez and Lukas Podolski in the pecking order. France 12.10 : Midfielder Patrick Vieira pulled out of Saturday's World Cup qualifying match at Romania after injuring himself while warming up. Details were not immediately available and Vieira's status Tuesday's friendly against Tunisia is uncertain. The France captain had just returned from a series of niggling thigh injuries. French media said Vieira had strained his right calf muscle. Meanwhile, France coach Raymond Domenech could still lose his job despite his team's comeback 2-2 draw at Romania. Domenech was kept on by the French football federation despite a group-stage exit from the European Championship, but he was urged to improve results, reportedly needing five points from the first three qualifiers. But France have four points, two behind Serbia and Lithuania in Group 7. Scotland 12.10 : Kris Boyd said he would not play for Scotland again as long as George Burley remains the national team manager. The 25-year-old striker who has scored seven times in 15 appearances for his country, was an unused substitute during their 0-0 draw with Norway on Saturday. He has played just 28 minutes of the six games Scotland have played since Burley took charge of the team in January. Boyd had informed both Burley and Scottish Football Association of his decision. England 12.10 : John Terry is battling to be fit for England's World Cup qualifying match away to Belarus on Wednesday. Terry missed the 5-1 victory over Kazakhstan at Wembley on Saturday with a back problem which first flared up during Chelsea's UEFA Champions League draw with Cluj. If Terry fails to recover, Matthew Upson is likely to keep his place because coach Fabio Capello has identified the 29-year-old as the Chelsea player's deputy, with Joleon Lescott providing cover for Rio Ferdinand. |
